Smart Material Display – Shape studies

Shape studies Geometry of the basic shape
The following questions were important for the shape studies
- Which shape can be combined to form a visually appealing matrix with the greatest possible change in shape? Rectangle – Triangle – Rhombus – Parallelogram
- What is the optimal size of this shape?
- In which combination does the basic shape produce the most effective patterns?
- What sequences are possible (straight, rotated, offset, counter-rotated)?
- How many individual basic shapes (with one or two degrees of freedom) are required for a module that can visualise a data set?
- What movement choreographies are possible?
Other criteria were taken into account
- Optimal use of the production area
- Little material waste
- Appropriate size for a spatial object
